CCE Safety Education Programs
Since 2002, Cornell Cooperative Extension has collaborated, as a member of the Community Safety Committee, with over 25 public and private organizations to provide Traffic Safety Education to the residents of Livingston County.
Traffic Safety Education
Cornell Cooperative Extension coordinates Traffic Safety Education programming, in collaboration with other organizations, in order to provide a comprehensive traffic safety education plan for Livingston County residents.
By providing a comprehensive program that educates the community on traffic safety education, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Livingston County hopes to reduce the number of traffic safety injuries and deaths in the county.
Traffic Safety Education is provided for all ages to students, parents, caregivers, individuals, schools, community groups, and agencies. The topics include: occupant, pedestrian, and wheeled sport safety.

School/Community Presentations
- Free of charge, requires between 30 to 45 minutes
- Programs are age and grade appropriate
- Material presented in a classroom environment utilizing a short video and visuals
- Question and answer session to reinforce the material.
Research evidence shows that the best practice of traffic safety education in schools requires continuous, age appropriate, and sequential education be delivered to students in every level and every school year. This best practice traffic safety education is a combination of parents/caregivers and teachers working collaboratively to provide classroom and real environment experiences.
Education is emphasized through hands on learning activities and encourages participants to become proficient in skills - so they can replicate the lifelong skills with their families.
